What you’ll do on a Windows device

Five quick steps, all signed and shipped from catalogue.wanywhere.com. Pair this with the Admin Console at browseanywhere.ai to push policy.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 (1903) or Windows 11 — 64-bit
  • 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • ~500 MB free disk after install
  • Administrator rights for first-time install
  • Stable internet for policy sync & updates
Installation steps

Windows rollout — five steps

Tested on freshly imaged endpoints; works the same in MDM-managed fleets.

  1. 1

    Download the ZIP

Pull the signed agent package from our software catalogue.

    • From /download choose Windows, or use the direct catalogue link.
    • File: browseanywhere-window.zip
    • All transfers use HTTPS — verify the URL host is catalogue.wanywhere.com.
  2. 2

    Extract the archive

Unpack the ZIP to reveal the signed setup executable.

    • Right-click the ZIP → Extract All (or use 7-Zip / your preferred archive tool).
    • Pick a working folder you can re-open easily — e.g. Desktop\browseAnywhere.
    • Inside, you’ll find the signed Windows installer (.exe).
  3. 3

    Run the installer

Launch the setup wizard with admin rights.

    • Right-click the setup .exe → Run as administrator.
    • Approve the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    • Accept the licence, choose an install path (default: C:\Program Files\browseAnywhere).
    • Click Install — typical run time is 1–2 minutes.
  4. 4

    Sign in & sync policy

Connect the agent to your tenant.

    • Launch browseAnywhere from the Start menu.
    • Sign in with your organisation account (SSO if configured).
    • Tenant policies pull automatically from the Admin Console.
    • First sync may take 30–60 seconds; the system tray icon turns blue when ready.
  5. 5

    Verify

    Confirm the rollout is healthy.

    • Open browseAnywhere and visit any internal URL — DLP/policy badges should appear.
    • Check Windows Settings → Apps for the listed install entry.
    • Admins: open the Admin Console and confirm the device shows up under Devices.
Post-install checklist

Confirm the rollout is working.

Initial configuration

  • Sign in to the Admin Console at browseanywhere.ai
  • Confirm tenant settings (org name, default policy set)
  • Assign departments and roles, or sync from your IdP
  • Enable forensic event forwarding to your SIEM

Verify on the endpoint

  • Browse to a low-risk site — confirm policy badges render
  • Try a blocked URL — confirm the deny page appears
  • Trigger a DLP rule (e.g. paste a test card number) — confirm redaction
  • Check device appears under Devices in the Admin Console
Troubleshooting

When something looks off.

The fixes below resolve 90% of first-install issues. For anything else, our team is one ticket away.

Install fails or stalls

  • Confirm administrator / sudo rights on the device
  • Ensure ≥ 1 GB free disk and the antivirus isn’t quarantining the installer
  • Re-download the ZIP if SHA / file size doesn’t match the catalogue listing

Application won’t launch

  • Verify OS version meets the minimum requirements above
  • macOS: open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway
  • Linux: confirm GTK / nss libraries are installed
  • Check the Admin Console for licence or quarantine flags on the device

Permission or policy errors

  • Confirm the user is provisioned and assigned to the right department
  • Re-authenticate to refresh the tenant token
  • Open a ticket from /contact with the device ID — we’ll trace the policy decision
